Scope and Content
This series contains records of each burial in the cemetery. These were created by the cemetery as part of the burial process and were bound alphabetically in expandable file covers. Information is recorded on standard forms that include burial information and in some cases are accompanied by a burial-transit permit. The standard forms include space to indicate the location of the interment, the name of the deceased including maiden name, relationship, place and date of birth, place and date of death, funeral date and time, whether the deceased was married, unmarried, widowed, a veteran and of what war, last place of residence, date the form was filled out, funeral director's signature, and an authorized signature including address and relationship to the lot owner.
The burial-transit permit includes spaces to fill in the name of the deceased, sex and race, place and date of birth, place and date of death, residence, name of the informant, disposition of the remains (burial, cremation, or other), cemetery name and location, funeral director information, embalmer's license number, place and date of embalming, name of the local registrar, date, and the signature of the "person in charge." The back side of the burial transit permit records the plot location, lot owner's name, parents' names, type of vault, and whether there is a marker. In some cases an obituary is included with the burial record.
